Women's fitness in Tashkent: how to choose a club and what to look for on a first visit

A good women’s fitness club in Tashkent is one you actually want to return to: it offers formats that fit your goals, equipment you understand, trainers who start with you rather than a template, and a calm atmosphere. You can check all of this in a single guest visit, provided you know what to ask and what to look at.

In short

  • Choose an environment, not just a gym: it decides whether you are still going three months from now.
  • Judge a club on eight points: formats, equipment, trainers, a body assessment at the start, atmosphere, convenience, community and openness.
  • Go to the visit prepared: with questions, in comfortable clothes, and without feeling you must decide on the spot.
  • The main red flag is pressure combined with vague answers.

Before you start: three questions for yourself

Before comparing clubs, it helps to know what you want from training. Three questions are enough.

  1. Why do I want this? Strength and tone, back and posture, flexibility, postnatal recovery, energy, or simply a break from everything else. The answer shapes which formats you need.
  2. How often can I realistically come? An honest answer beats an ambitious one. A club that is awkward to reach, or whose timetable does not fit your week, becomes a membership you do not use.
  3. What feels better: one-to-one with a trainer, a group, or a mix? Many women combine individual sessions with group classes.

Eight criteria for choosing a women’s fitness club

1. Class formats

A single format gets dull quickly. It is good when a club offers strength training, Pilates, yoga, stretching and something purely for pleasure, such as dance. That lets you change the load to match how you feel, instead of dropping everything when one type of workout wears thin.

2. Equipment

Ask what you will be training on, and ask to see it. Equipment should be in good order, clean and easy to understand, and a trainer should explain how to use it. Machines designed with women’s anatomy in mind are a real bonus.

3. Trainers

Ask about the trainers: experience, education, specialism. One is stronger in strength work, another in yoga or recovery. It is a good sign when a club introduces its team openly rather than saying “everyone here is experienced”.

4. Where the work begins

Be wary of “universal” plans. A strong programme starts with an assessment: posture, body composition, joint mobility, your goals and limitations. That way the trainer knows what they are working with, and you have a starting point to compare against later.

5. Atmosphere

A brochure cannot describe it; you have to feel it. Notice the lighting, the noise level, the cleanliness, how the front desk speaks to guests, and whether you can train without feeling watched. For many women this decides whether they come back.

6. Convenience and time saved

The journey, parking, opening hours, and whether training can fit around the rest of your day. If you can recover or meet a friend in the same place after a session, coming regularly becomes much easier.

7. Community

Support matters, especially in the first weeks. Find out whether the club has shared events, gatherings or talks. It is not essential, but it helps a great deal in keeping motivation up.

8. Openness

A club with nothing to hide answers questions calmly and specifically: what a session includes, how to book, who to contact. If simple questions get evasive answers, take that as a reason to pause.

What to ask and what to look at on a guest visit

Take this list with you.

  • Can I see the gym and the studio while classes are running?
  • How does the first session go, and what will it include?
  • Is there an assessment of the body before training starts?
  • Who will lead my sessions, and can I meet the trainer beforehand?
  • What happens if I have had an injury or have limitations?
  • How do I book and reschedule sessions?
  • Where can I find current terms and the timetable?

Wear comfortable sportswear and trainers, and bring water. Do not decide on the spot: take the time to think it over at home.

Red flags

  • You are rushed and pushed with “this offer is only for today”.
  • Questions about trainers and equipment get general phrases in reply.
  • You are not shown the gym, or only when it is empty.
  • A programme is proposed without asking about your goals and health.
  • A specific result is promised in a specific time. Every body is different, and an honest club does not give such guarantees.

How Impress Fitness answers these criteria

Impress Fitness is part of Impress Club, the first women’s club in Tashkent, opened on 3 October 2025. Here is the answer point by point, based only on what is actually there.

  • Formats. Pilates Reformer (in mini-groups) and Pilates Mat, Healthy Back, Hatha Yoga, Power Yoga, Stretch Relax, Arabic Dance, a gym, Body Sculpt and Gym Hour circuit training. You can train one-to-one with a trainer or in a group.
  • Equipment. The gym has Technogym equipment designed with women’s anatomy in mind. Reformer classes run in mini-groups.
  • Trainers. The team is introduced on the Impress Fitness page: Natalya Linyova, Irina Gushchina, Sogdiana Abduhalikova, Kamila Alish, Sakina Samigullina and Sabina Shukrullaeva. For example, Natalya Linyova is a certified Pilates Reformer specialist (Balanced Body), and Sakina Samigullina has a higher medical education and a certificate from the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan.
  • Assessment first. Training starts with the digital body analysis Technogym Check Up: posture, body composition, joint mobility and cognitive-motor indicators. Trainers build the plan from it.
  • Atmosphere. Impress Club was created by a woman for women: its founder, Sayyora Razzakova, looked around Tashkent for a place where a woman could find everything in one spot, did not find one, and built it.
  • Convenience. Fitness is open from 09:00 to 22:00. Within Impress Club you will also find SPA, Beauty, Glow and the Salute restaurant, so after a session you can recover, book a laser hair removal or cosmetology appointment at Impress Beauty or meet a friend.
  • Community. IMPRESS COMMUNITY offers closed brunches, expert lectures on beauty and psychology, and events.
  • Openness. We do not list the timetable or terms in this article so as not to give out-of-date information: it is best to confirm current details directly on Instagram, @impressfitnessuz.

Questions and answers

Do I need to book in advance to look around the club?

You can simply come in. If you would like to discuss classes, the timetable or a first visit beforehand, message @impressfitnessuz on Instagram. The website has no online booking.

Where should a beginner start?

With an assessment of your body and a conversation with a trainer. At Impress Fitness that is Technogym Check Up. After that you can try a few formats, such as Pilates, yoga or the gym, and keep the one you are drawn to.

How is a women’s club different from an ordinary gym?

It is not only about who is in the room but about the approach: equipment designed with women’s anatomy in mind, a calm setting, and programmes built around posture, back health, recovery and well-being, not just “burn and lose”.

What should I bring to my first session?

Comfortable clothes and shoes, water, and, if relevant, information about injuries or limitations to share with your trainer. If you have a particular health condition, speak to your doctor beforehand.

If you are choosing between formats, you may find it useful to read how to choose between yoga and stretching and the article on Pilates Reformer. The club is in Tashkent at Buyuk Ipak Yo’li St., 288; the address and ways to get in touch are on the contacts page.
